1981
March
Ramendu Majumdar meets Lars of Malmborg, the then Secretary General of International Theatre Institute on the occasion of Third World Theatre Festival in Seoul. Mr. Majumdar led the Theatre group from Bangladesh, which took part in the festival.
He forwarded a proposal to establish Bangladesh Centre of International Theatre Institute.
April-September
Objections are raised to establish a Bangladesh Centre of ITI since professional theatre does not exist in Bangladesh. Counter-arguments put forward by Ramendu Majumdar. Correspondences continued from both ends.
Eventually, the group theatre practice of Bangladesh was duly recognized by International Theatre Institute.

1982
March 13
A meeting of practitioners and of theatre workers was convened in Dhaka with a view to establish the Bangladesh Centre and a 26-member Executive Committee was formed.
May 14
Bangladesh Centre of ITI formally takes off in a ceremonious way. The venue was German Cultural Centre, Dhaka.
The Bulletin of ITI Bangladesh published.
June 20 to July 6
Asaduzzaman Noor, an EXCOM member of ITI Bangladesh and a veteran actor, represents Bangladesh in the Theatre of Nations Festival held in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Mamunur Rashid, a noted theatre director and actor takes part in the Second International Indigenous Peoples Theatre Celebration held in Canada.

Sisir Dutta visits Kolkata to participate in the seminar on Indian dance traditions and modern dramatic art.

The theme of this year’s seminar was Jatra (opera) in Bangladesh : Past and Present.
Keynote paper was presented by Amalendu Biswas.

ITI Bangladesh produces Shakespeare’s The Tempest in Bangla. This was a unique event since the cast and crew were composed of members from several groups. The British Council came up with material assistance. The play was directed by Deborah Warner. The Bangla version was done by Syed Shamsul Haq.

A delegation of Bangladesh ITI attended the 31st World Congress of ITI held in Manila, Philippines, Led by Ramendu Majumdar, the delegation included Nasiraddin Yousuf, Mofidul Hoque, Shafi Ahmed, Liaquat Ali Lucky, Jhuna Chowdhury and Ahmed Iqbal Haidar. Ramendu Majumdar was reelected Vice President of the Worldwide Exccutive Committee, Mofidul Hoque President of the Communication Committee, Jhuna Chowdhury Vice President of Dramatic Theatre Committee, Liaquat Ali Lucky Board Member of Music Theatre Committee and Shafi Ahmed Board Member of Theatre Education Committee.
For the first time, a play from Bangladesh was produced in the Festival learning the Congtess. Dhaka Theatre presented Binodini acted by Shimul Yousuf and directed by Nasiruddin Yousuff.
UNESCO Director General, Koichiro Matsura formally launched the English and French versions of the World of Theatre 2006, both published by Bangladesh ITI. Ramendu Majumdar and Mofidul Hoque edited the English Version while the French Version was edited by Nicole Laclereq.

2007
March 27
World Theatre Day observed. World Theatre Day lecture was deliverd by Prof. Syed Manzoorul Islam. World Theatre Day honour was awarded posthumously to Wahidul Haq and Nitun Kundu.
Ramendu Majumdar attented the World Theatre Day celebrations at UNESCO headquarters in Paris where His Highess Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Ali Qasimi delivered his world Theatre Day message. Mr. Majumdar also spoke as a panelist in ‘Sixty Sinates to Convince’ at UNESCO and attended the ITI Executive Council Meeting.

A 9-day Regional Workshop for Young Theatre Practitioners was conducted by Chrishine Schmalor (Germany) with 16 participants from Bangladesh, India and Nepal.

International Theatre Festival
Theatre Festival titled “2nd Dhaka International Theatre Fest” from 12-21 March, 2015 in National Theatre, Dhaka. 26 Theatre and Dance Drama performances from Bangladesh, China, UK and India. 10 special bulletins titled “Theatre Fest” were published daily during the Festival. Open Forum – A platform to meet the Directors of the plays organized during the Festival.

Monodrama Festival, 2016
Theatre Festival titled “2nd Dhaka Monodrama Festival, 2016” from 08-15 December, 2016 in National Theatre, Dhaka. Cultural performances in the opening ceremony and 11 Monodrama performances from Bangladesh, China, Vietnam and India. Festival inaugurated by Mr. Asaduzzamam Noor MP, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The day was celebrated with various programmes such as : Theatre day procession with colorful Dress, Masks, Placard, Festoons etc. World Theatre Day Lecture programme, reading of international message of French Film and Stage Actress Isabelle Huppert and cultural programme in National Thetare , Dhaka. World Theatre Day Lecture was delivered by Dr. Enamul Haque, prominent Actor. World Theatre Day honour was awarded to Late Md. Mijarul Quayes, Diplomat and cultural activist. World Theatre Day national message was delivered by Mr. Ataur Rahman, prominent actor and director. A 12 member delegation of Bangladesh comprising of Ramendu Majumdar, Prof. Abdus Selim, Nasir Uddin Yousuff, Shimul Yousuf, Jhuna Chowdhury, Ahmed Iqbal Haidar, Babul Biswas, Dr. Israfil Shahin, Humayun Kabir Himu, Dr. Irin Parven Lopa, Sadhana Ahmed & Esha Yousuf participated in the Congress.
Sayek Siddiqui participates in a program titled ‘Congress Prologue (Workshop, Student Festival, Presentations and Round Tables)’ organized for young artists from 14-16 July, 2017. Sayek performs short plays based on folk tales from Mymensingh on 21 July, 2017 which gets much appreciation. Dr. Israfil Shahin participates in the Workshop titled ‘Ethnographic Sensibility for Acting’ as Trainer.
